Abordagem teórica sobre a importância do papel social da Polícia Militar no Estado Democrático de Direito, no contexto atual de redemocratização. Para o desenvolvimento do tema, após abordar sobre o comprometimento político, discorre-se a respeito da minimalização da cidadania pela violência policial, assim como, sobre o direito fundamental à segurança cidadã, abordando-se a inserção da sociedade junto às políticas de segurança pública; para, em seguida, discorrer sobre o papel social da Polícia Militar no Estado Democrático de Direito.

Theoretical approach on the importance of the social role of the Military Police in the Democratic Rule of Law, in the current context of redemocratization. For the development of the theme, after addressing the political commitment, it is discussed about the minimization of citizenship by police violence, as well as about the fundamental right to citizen security, addressing the insertion of society with public security policies. ; and then discuss the social role of the military police in the democratic rule of law.
